XPDesign High performance UI design
Training in XPDesign: High performance user interface design
PTG Global’s revolutionary XPDesign methodology for user interface design is now available for training, coaching and mentoring.
Our training program, designed by industrial psychologists, gives designers a comprehensive overview of XPDesign and teaches you how to create the user interface architecture and user interface presentation layer. You will learn how to apply it to rich web and desktop applications.
XPDesign provides designers with a systematic, robust and repeatable process to move from requirements to design. It standardises the design process letting your entire team deliver high quality, justifiable user interfaces that work the right way, first time.
XPDesign: A robust and systematic design methodology
XPDesign creates a clear line of sight between organisation strategy and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and application behaviour. XPDesign focuses on individual and organisational performance, incorporating the needs of both the users of the application and the business into the design. XPDesign delivers user interfaces that drive productivity and compliance with policy and procedure.
XPDesign delivers:
- Reduced design and development time
Reduced screen count by 50 — 80%, making applications easier to learn and useA scalable and flexible user interface architecture for the future growthA foundation user interface architecture for any medium (e.g., desktop, kiosk, mobile, IVR)
- Design specifications ready for immediate development into a working application.
Training methodology
The XPDesign training course has been developed using principles of adult learning and the latest instructional design theory, ensuring that participants effectively learn through formal instruction, worked examples, case studies and individual / group activities. Separate coaching and mentoring is available to support transfer of training back to the workplace.
Who should participate?
XPDesign Training is aimed at business analysts, developers and designers with or without previous design experience. It is assumed that participants are familiar with general requirements methods. Training courses in requirements (requirements workshops, job analysis, onsite observation) are available.
Coverage of XPDesign training
After attending training in XPDesign, participants will confidently:
- Design a performance model to link business and user performance with application design and behaviour
- Develop a domain model to represent best and current practice in the area of interest
- Map a comprehensive and logical workflow to control overall behaviour of the application
- Develop an object model to specific the data managed in the application
- Define business rules to control the specific operations in the user interface and underlying application and comply with business requirements
-
Understand how to design and deploy user interface patterns
-
Design a scalable, flexible user interface architecture and design framework to accommodate change in process and activity over time, without fundamental redesign
-
Develop an information architecture to intuitively organise functionality and content
- Document the full user interface specifications ready for and over to the development team.
Course details
Training in XPDesign is run over 2 or 3 full days, depending on previous experience. The location for the training will be arranged according to client and participant requirements. A minimum of five participants is required for each course in order to provide rich learning experiences. Participants are encouraged to bring real-world design problems to work on during training.
Participants will each receive course slides and hints and tips sheets to take away from the course and facilitate transfer of the knowledge and skills learned to the workplace.
Follow-up coaching and mentoring can be provided for an additional fee.
